What Is BalanceHER?
BalanceHER© is not a medical program or treatment system.
It is a movement-based wellness framework rooted in:
• Classical Shaolin movement foundations
• Yuan Qi Qigong principles specifically developed for women
• Grounding, rhythm, and nervous-system regulation
• Decades of embodied teaching and lived practice
The practices are intentionally short — often around 90 seconds — because real women live real lives.
BalanceHER supports women in:
• Navigating stress and emotional overload
• Reconnecting to bodily rhythm and grounding
• Moving through hormonal life stages with greater ease
• Building resilience without exhaustion
This is movement literacy, not diagnosis or treatment.
BalanceHER & 1MindBodyFitness
1MindBodyFitness is a foundational training and practice partner within the Shaolin Café Collective.
BalanceHER was developed through decades of martial arts, Qigong teaching, and women’s wellness education, many of which were cultivated through the 1MindBodyFitness lineage and community.
The relationship is one of shared roots, not duplication.

FAQs
FAQ 1: What is BalanceHER?
BalanceHER© is a women’s embodied movement practice co-created with input from South African wellness communities. Drawing from classical Shaolin movement, Yuan Qi Qigong, and ancestral grounding principles—including Khoe-San rhythmic awareness—it offers short, repeatable sequences to support presence, grounded rhythm, and daily resilience.
FAQ 2: Is BalanceHER a medical or hormonal treatment?
No. BalanceHER© is a non-medical movement practice. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional healthcare. Its focus is on embodied rhythm, breath-aware movement, and grounding—rooted in martial arts tradition, not clinical intervention.
FAQ 3: Why are BalanceHER practices only 90 seconds long?
The 90-second format reflects real-life rhythm—designed for busy days, changing energy, and accessible repetition. Inspired by traditions where micro-practices accumulate over time (like drumming cycles or daily greeting postures), these moments invite consistent reconnection, not performance or endurance.
FAQ 4: Who created BalanceHER?
BalanceHER© was developed by Amanda Lan, a Shaolin martial artist (7th Duan) and 5th Dan International Health Qigong Technical Coach, with over 30 years of teaching movement across South Africa. The framework was shaped through community workshops, feedback from women in townships and rural settings, and respect for local expressions of strength and stillness.
FAQ 5: How does BalanceHER honour South African heritage?
BalanceHER© integrates local movement wisdom—such as the grounded stillness reminiscent of Table Mountain, rhythmic weight shifts found in traditional dance forms, and breath-aware pauses used in storytelling circles. It intentionally avoids universalising language, and instead invites practitioners to relate movement to their own landscape, language, and lineage.
FAQ 6: Where can I explore the full BalanceHER system?
You can access the full library of practices, community resources, and free introductory sessions at https://www.balance-her.com–designed for mobile-first access and low-data use across South Africa.
